Simpson Strong-Tie, the leader in engineered structural connectors and building solutions, donated $20,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to assist relief efforts in Australia after numerous bushfires have ravaged millions of acres throughout the country.
At least 29 people have died from the blazes, with some individuals still unaccounted for. More than 2,500 homes have also been destroyed. It has been estimated that a billion animals have died in the fires. In the hardest-hit areas of New South Wales and Victoria, more than 16 million acres of land have burned. Dangerous weather conditions continue to exacerbate the situation as the summer season continues for another month.
“The magnitude and effect of the bushfires in Australia are unprecedented,” said Simpson Strong-Tie COO Ricardo Arevalo. “Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by this immense disaster.”
