New Simpson Strong-Tie advances and innovations in builder technology come on the heels of a $1.3M investment in the Higharc homebuilding automation platform.
Pleasanton, Calif. — Simpson Strong-Tie, the leader in engineered structural connectors and building solutions, will preview new augmented reality (AR) functionality for its popular Deck Planner Software™ design app at the 2023 International Builder Show (IBS) January 31 – February 2 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Located in Central Hall C2130, the Simpson Strong-Tie booth will offer a preview of the forthcoming addition of AR technology to its Deck Planner Software application — a completely free, web-based design solution to help contractors, lumberyards, and homeowners quickly and easily design dream backyards. Featuring 3D software, design guides, and an in-app user tutorial, Deck Planner Software provides a suite of intuitive tools and resources for designing and building sturdy, attractive decks, pergolas, and other outdoor living spaces.
With AR functionality, Deck Planner users can easily design a safe, strong and beautiful deck in minutes by selecting materials, dimensions, colors, and hardware, and then engage in a real-world interactive AR experience within the deck design. When ready to build, Deck Planner Software generates a permit submittal page and materials lists to get projects started right away. (AR functionality is expected to become available by early spring of this year).
Simpson Strong-Tie will also feature new additions to its Pipeline web-based material management and estimation logic technology solution, including the ability to create actual measurements and provide the true costs for construction of a house. Users can now adjust costs based on options at any level with immediate visibility into how specific options will affect both the selling price and the profit margin.
New Simpson Strong-Tie advances and innovations in builder technology come on the heels of a $1.3M investment in the Higharc homebuilding automation platform. Founded by CEO Marc Minor in 2018, Higharc is changing how new homes are designed, sold, and built. As of October 2022, Higharc helped support visualization, design, and creation of 38 communities nationwide. The first direct venture investment made by Simpson Strong-Tie in a startup, the commitment is part of a core strategy to allocate resources to open innovation, new technologies, and industry leadership in all areas of the construction process.
This January, Simpson Strong-Tie also announced the acquisition of Elk Grove, CA–based EstiFrame Technologies, Inc. Founded in 2017 by Coby Gifford and Aaron Love, EstiFrame provides component manufacturing and framing technologies to the construction industry, including the EasyFrame automated marking system that matches saws with digital printers to label 2x frame members for fast and accurate assembly.
