Simpson Strong-Tie, the leader in engineered structural connectors and building solutions, hosted 48 recipients of its Student Scholarship, a Strong-Tie Undergraduate Fellowship program, for a week-long trip to its Northern California facilities. The visit, which took place July 15–19, provided first-time scholarship recipients from across the country the opportunity to learn more about the building industry and Simpson Strong-Tie products, R&D, testing and manufacturing.
As part of the all-expenses-paid visit to Simpson Strong-Tie at its facilities in Pleasanton and Stockton, California, the students toured the company’s state-of-the-art Tye Gilb Research Lab and its manufacturing floor. They also visited a construction jobsite, and participated in a Q&A panel with members of the Simpson Strong-Tie executive and senior leadership teams.
For several of the students, it was their first trip out of their home state, and a handful also flew for the first time to attend. This year saw the highest number of attendees since the event was inaugurated in 2018. The annual visit provides Simpson Strong-Tie the opportunity to make connections with future designers, engineers and customers and aligns with its company value No. 2 – Long-Range View.
The Simpson Strong-Tie® Student Scholarship supports higher education and promotes the design and building of safer structures in our communities by assisting university students in meeting their tuition costs with a $3,000 award. The full list of awardees is here.
The Simpson Strong-Tie Student Scholarship is administered by Scholarship America, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals.
